GIS flew across the Atlantic last week for the highly anticipated launch of our Miami Campus at DRV PNK Stadium, which proved an overwhelming success for our partners, our students and all those involved.

Classes began on Monday for GIS’ first intake of MSc Sports Directorship students, with inaugural sessions to kickstart the two-year, part-time course designed for industry professionals to further their progression in senior director sporting roles.

The following day saw the official launch event, in which GIS, Inter Miami CF, various partners and industry professionals gathered to celebrate the first stadium in the Western Hemisphere to serve as a permanent university campus.

The exclusive event was attended by a host of dignitaries and industry leaders, including Jason Roberts, ex-Premier League footballer and Director of Development at CONCACAF; Mayor of Fort Lauderdale Dean Trantalis; Spencer Hidge, Founder of Premier Sports Network and representatives from the MLS, Chicago Fire, Miami Dolphins, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, Everton FC, Seattle Sounders and more.

Former Manchester United player, and Inter Miami Head Coach, Phil Neville was next to deliver an exclusive guest speaker session at GIS Miami Campus on Wednesday, talking students through his career, what drove him to where he is today, and how to excel within this unique, unparalleled industry.

The week, in its entirety, saw years of hard work and innovation come to fruition, as GIS continue to build their foothold in the ultimate sporting nation. From Burnley to New York, and now Manchester to Miami, we’re thrilled to have completed the next step in our global expansion.

Brendan Flood, Founding Owner of Orlando City SC and GIS Chairman, summarised: “I am delighted that the launch of GIS Inter Miami was such a success, and that our Master’s programme is officially underway at DRV PNK Stadium, with more to follow soon. It was great to take a step back and reflect on this monumental partnership and what we have achieved so far.”
