One of our media students is gaining invaluable experience at the moment, creating matchday content for a Football League club.

Matthew Boss, a BA (Hons) Football Business and Media student, is currently on placement at Stockport County as a matchday content producer.

Within his role, Matthew captures content of fans on a matchday for the club to upload on their social media, as well as getting TikToks or Instagram stories with the players at training sessions.

Matthew said: “I have been able to apply a lot of the skills that I have learnt on my degree, into this role. For example, video creation and researching skills.”

He added: “My time at UCFB so far has been great, I’m doing a course that I love, and it’s given me plenty of opportunities like this one at Stockport County, which will help me in the future after my time at UCFB.”

When asked further about his time at university, Matthew said: “So far at UCFB I've enjoyed certain things that the university offers, such as, job opportunities and the campus football league, on top of the fact that some modules allow you to envisage what you want to do when you graduate.”

He added: “This placement provides me with so much opportunity, it's a place where I'm allowed to be creative and get myself the experience needed for future job roles, as well as hopefully being able to benefit the club and establish some connections.”

“In the future, I'd love to see myself working as an interviewer, commentator, or presenter for a club or tv production team and maintain a career in the football industry.”

Matthew gave some advice to students, saying: “Work hard and be organised and to push yourself, which in turn will hopefully reap its rewards down the line.”
