GIS Miami Campus opened its doors for the first time yesterday as it welcomed prospective students to view its facilities and find out more about its unique graduate degrees.

Based at the DRV PNK Stadium – home of MLS side Inter Miami CF – visitors found out more about the degree programme that will soon be on offer to students, the academic staff and what it’s like to be a student in southern Florida.

GIS Miami Campus will officially welcome students through the door in January 2022 for the first time when it launches the MSc Sports Directorship programme. Further courses dedicated to the global sports industry are set to be announced soon.

The campus is GIS’ first in North America, and follows on from the opening of hubs at Red Bull Arena, New York; the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta and Toronto FC’s BMO Stadium.

GIS is the graduate programme arm of UCFB – University Campus of Football Business – who have been running undergraduate degrees in the UK for over ten years from Wembley Stadium, London, and Etihad Stadium, Manchester.

Commenting on the event, GIS’ Regional Director for the Americas, Catherine Garrido, said: “After so much planning and work over the last year it was great to finally see people walking through the door and to find out what we can offer them and their future careers. Miami is a city famous for its rich sporting heritage, and is home to some of the biggest names in world sport, so it was great to be able to showcase the opportunities available to people here in South Florida, as well as the partnership we have with Inter Miami CF. We’re now looking forward to welcoming students through the door for the first time next month.”
