University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) scholarship duo Millie Chandarana and Dev Trehan have been shortlisted for accolades at the Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium.

UCFB partnered with FA scout and Sky Sports News journalist Trehan last year to launch the world’s first leadership scholarship focusing on developing British South Asians in Football.

The recipient of the first-of-its-kind scholarship was trailblazing women’s footballer Millie Chandarana, who is a part-time MSc Football Business student.

Millie, who was the only British South Asian with a professional contract in the Women’s Championship last season, continues to be mentored and supported by Dev, with the pair working closely together to raise positive awareness and inspire the next generation of players from the community.

Millie recently completed a move to Nottingham Forest where she has played a key role in the team making an unbeaten start to the season.

She has been nominated for the Women’s Player of the Year Award, with Dev in the running for the Media Award at the gala event often referred to as the ‘Asians in Football Oscars.’

Speaking to UCFB after receiving the news, Dev said: “It’s an honour to be recognised at such a prestigious event, but more than anything else, I’m just so happy for our very own Millie Chandarana.

“Her commitment and dedication to the game is second to none, and to have the opportunity to work with someone who inspires me to be better every day is a joy and a privilege.

“Millie is a credit to UCFB, a credit to the women’s game, and a credit to British South Asians in Football.”

UCFB course leader for MSc Football Business, Christopher Winn, said: “Millie has been a pleasure to work with in the first year of her masters, excelling in her academic studies whilst generously lending her time to other women’s football events and causes both in and beyond UCFB.”

“This nomination is extremely well-deserved recognition of her commitment to the women’s game both on and off the field, and furthering British South Asian representation in women’s football. We wish her the very best of luck on the night.“
