UCFB graduate Louie has been talking to us about his work as a sales executive alongside a Premier League club since graduating from UCFB.
Louie Mockford-Allott, who studied BA (Hons) Football Business and Marketing at UCFB, now works as a sales executive for IMG in collaboration with Fulham FC.
“My role changes day by day,” Louie said, “depending on what the priorities are at that point. It’s a complete mixture between income enquiries, reaching out to businesses, client interaction, and it’ll expand as the season goes on.”
“While at Fulham,” he added, “my day-to-day role has been concentrating on sales for the new stand. Initially with seasonal clients and then elevating that to match-by-match clients.”
When asked about matchdays, Louie said: “Matchdays are a case of making sure clients are happy, having a good time, and being that social butterfly, bouncing around.”
Speaking about his time at UCFB, he added: “My favourite part was the people: the students, lecturers, guest speakers. Everyone is there for the same reason; they love football.
“Every day, you’re concentrating on football. The work and research that you do, everything’s about your passion.”
Louie went on to say how his degree in BA (Hons) Football Business and Marketing helped him secure his current role.
“The skills that brought me here were a mixture of both business and marketing. In terms of business, it was the business development side, understanding different industries and which industries to then target.
“In terms of marketing, that sits in the advertising aspect; how you speak and communicate. Those elements combine into the sales executive role I’m in now.”
He finished: “Working at a football club allows you to be involved in that environment and see behind the curtain. As a passionate football fan myself, it’s interesting seeing the amount of roles there actually is within a club.
“Every day, you’re talking about football, everything you do is football-related.”
